FAQ

These are all actual questions from our clients, hope this list helps clear some things up if you are looking to book a session with us!  If you have any other questions, send it over and we will add it to this list!

  1. I was curious if we get all of the pics that you take? Yes! We give you all the high res files of the photos we show you.  Please note that we don’t show you every photo we take.  We believe it is part of our job to sort through the photos for you, so we only show you the edited, best shots. Expect 30-40 photos for a studio/on-location session and 400-500 photos for a wedding.

  2. I tried printing some of the photos and they don’t look like they do on my computer.  Is there something I can do? Color matching is always a very tough thing to master.  (Matching the color you see on your monitor to the color you see on the print.)  We have spent a lot of time and care to make sure the color on our prints is perfect.  We cannot guarantee the color on prints you make yourself because each printer prints a little differently depending on the inks/paper/settings etc.  Some tips are if you print from your local lab, make sure they do not color correct the photos.  Your photos are already color corrected and if the lab computer tries to do any additional color correcting, it may result in strange tones (like greenish skin).  Also, make sure the photo is cropped at the right spot, some of the photos are not suited to print as a 4×6 size.  For example, some specialty square or long rectangle sizes that are meant for custom printing and mounting.  Easiest way to get the perfect print: Get them from us! We offer all sizes of prints.

  3. What should I wear? Wear what makes you feel comfortable, wear what makes you YOU!  We love it when our clients bring a whole suitcase full of stuff we can look through and we can choose a few outfits that will look best on camera.  We often have ideas and tips on what to wear on our blog.  Texture, color, layers, little details look great on camera.

  4. What is the best time for a newborn session? If you want to get those artistic sleepy, curled up shots, we recommend between 3-10 days old.  As for the time of day, that depends when mom and dad feel best because this is usually happens to be one of baby’s first outings.  Other than newbie newborns, the next best time for “newborn” photos is about 3 months, any baby acne or dry skin has cleared up, baby’s eyes are focusing and they are starting to smile!

  5. What is the best time for a maternity session? Anywhere around 30-32 weeks.  Every pregnancy is different so some people may want to get their maternity photos done earlier or later, but usually around 30 weeks is when you really see the bump, and you aren’t so uncomfortable that posing for photos is not out of the question.

  6. What happens after our session? First, we post a “sneak peek” of your session on our blog (usually the day after the session, but it can take up to a week.)  If you would rather not be on our blog, just let us know a the time of the session.  About 2-3 weeks after your session, we will send you an e-mail with the link to your personal online gallery.  You put in any albums/prints you would like to order and then we let you know when the products are ready to be picked up along with the DVD of the high res files.

  7. What kind of camera/lenses do you use? We are unique in that Hurene and Janet use Nikon, and Irene and Elaine use Canon!  Also Hurene (Nikon) and Elaine (Canon) use mainly prime lenses, and Irene (Canon) and Janet (Nikon) use mainly zooms!  So we get the best of both worlds. Click here to sneak a peek into Hurene’s camera bag…and yes, it is VERY HEAVY.
